I've fallen in love.

Curly Su and the Beautiful Bike

(with my sincerest apologies to Shel Silverstein)

There once was a girl named Susanna
Who was back from a horrible ride
Through Southern Louisiana
Where her bike had broken down 8 miles in
When she spied
A beautiful Orbea Women-Specific
Bike named Diva.
And next to it was a sign that said
For Sale: $4000.
"Oh," said Susanna,
"May I have that bike?
May I please?"
And her conscience/career choice/bank account said,
"No you may not."
And Susanna said,
"But I must have the bike."
And her conscience said,
"Well, you can't have that bike,
But you can have a huge cup of frozen yogurt
With hot fudge whenever you want."
And Susanna said,
"I don't want frozen yogurt with hot fudge,
I WANT THAT BIKE--
I MUST HAVE THAT BIKE."
And her bank account said,
"Be quiet and stop complaining--
You're not going to get that bike."
And Susanna began to cry and said,
"If I don't get the bike, I'll die."
And her career choice said, "You won't die.
No triathlete has ever died yet from not getting a bike."
And Susanna felt so bad
That when she turned off the computer she went to bed,
And she couldn't eat,
And she couldn't sleep,
And her heart was broken,
And she DID die--
All because of a bike
That her conscience wouldn't buy.
(This is a good story
To read when you
Can't buy something
You really, really want.)

Wait a few months till the new womens specific Maone comes out. It is really cool!! You won't regret it over the Orbea.

Just remember, you are fast because of you not because of the bike... that being said that is a sweet looking ride :-)

ha! nice cover...we see right through you - wait to spend all that cash...don't show up on race day with all new tri-bling, buy a little at a time...no big purchases...let that money "cool" for a while.

hahahaha :)

I am the proud owner of a women's specific orbea, but it was a lot cheaper to begin with, and I got a great deal. This is how I pulled it off as a flat-broke estudiante:
$2500 bike
- $400 for "dent" ie small chip in frame paint
- $600 because it was a 2005 model
- $200 as friend of owner of bike shop
- he let me pay in installments of $400

After three weeks, the bike was mine! :) Perhaps you could swing a deal like that?

Gorgeous bike. I have an Orbea, but he's not as purty as that one. I had to save up my $$$ for a year and in the end, relied on a second job to pull in the necessary funds. As an English major, I'm in the same boat when it comes to career choices and income.

End of the year seems to be a good time to pick up last year's models for a great deal.

It's all about the engine you've got inside (not the bike you are riding - sorry Bold)

But I can't think of a better way to fuel the engine than with a HUGE cup of frozen yogurt and hot fudge dripped on top :)

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
