I need to go to finishing school...

I went on a run today, as per usual.

I did a nice warm up, did a pretty fast 5K, and then was calmly finishing my cool down...

And then I fell off the road. Or...

I must have kind of fallen onto the road because my knee is all scraped up and bloody. But, I don't even care about that.

What I do care about is the ankle that gave out and caused me to fall. It's the same stupid ankle I've now twisted 3 times this year. This is not good. It's all swollen again (it looks like I have a golf ball stuck in the side of my foot), and I know pushing off the side of the pool will not be a possibility. Grrr...

But really, more worrisome is the fact that I keep twisting the damn thing, so it's just getting weaker and therefore easier to twist...vicious cycle, I tell you. A cycle that does not bode well for my running future.

On the bright side, I think I'll still be able to run (carefully!) this weekend, so I shouldn't lose any workouts this time around. (A very good thing because I've got exciting company for some kick-ass workouts over the next 48 hours.) And aside from the pushing off the pool thing, I think swimming would actually be good for it.

That, and a lot of Aleve.

I need to be more careful. I need to learn how to run without falling.

I've got a genius idea. You ready?

Next time, I'll try looking at the road.

I wish there was some way I could stick my tongue out at myself, because that's what I would be doing right now.

have fun with the greyhound... make sure he hits the scotch hard. just because i care.

also... be careful with your ankle. you might even want to have someone look at it. with all the twisting you sound like you've done to it, you've probably got a healthy load of scar tissue in it. trust me.... i know of what i speak.

have fun!

LOL - From one graceless person to another - it'll make no difference if you look at the road... they just keep changing its location. I swear it!

Take it easy on the ankle.
