Ultra?

I know some people don't consider 50K races to 'count' as an ultra. But, in my world anything longer than a marathon is definitely fair game.

So, I'm considering the Huff ultra on December 30. I'm definitely going to wait until after Philadelphia to decide for sure, but I thought it might be a nice way to usher in the New Year...

How's that for a 'what's next' plan?

I agree. Run another 5 miles after a marathon? Definitely tough.

They do a 50 miler here in Wisconsin and I always get the flyer. Maybe someday, but definitely not these days.

I hear there are a few people who may be doing swamp stomper 50k (www.swampstomper.com) in January in Memphis if you'd be up for that... :)

Ditto what Mouse said. If you want some company in your Ultra you may want to consider swamp stomper, it is tentatively on my 2007 list. If I don't do it I think I am at the minimum up for Crewing.

That said Huff is supposed to be a good race!

A bunch of Second Solers usually do Huff every year (mostly as a relay)! They say it's a blast. If you go let me know and I'll pass along some names for ya of cool people to meet!

I'm going to do the Michelob Ultra to usher in the new year. 12 ounces at a time.

The day I run more than 26.3 miles or longer, it is time to appoint a guardian and strap me to the bed.

There is nothing wrong with a 50k. I was considering an end of the year 50k as my first ultra. I say if you have the mental hurdle overcome, then do it.

Wow! if you have the strength mentally then go for it and pray your body has the strength to take you through the adventure.
