some good, some bad

My computer is salvagable. I didn't not lose any information. It cost me $250. It's going to be 2-4 weeks before I get it back.

wait! is your computer useable at all - can you back your important files up? if so you could just format the hard-drive and start afresh - it might save you 250 bucks.

good luck.

Thanks for the reminder to back up.

That's truly one of those "good and bad" scenarios.

And I agree with Kivster. If it's a software issue, I'm a big fan of back-up and do-over. If it's a hardware issue, it depends upon your experience. Many things are also DIY-able.

Yikes! Good to hear it's repairable.

Stay tuned...

Soon it will be cheeper to just buy a new one.. I shake my head to think that I paid $4000. for a laptop six years ago.. I dont' think you can spend that much on a computer anymore...

Cheers.
