Bad things happen in threes, right?

Okay, so avoiding the topic of the other two things I've been dealing with lately (which ultimately led to the previously mentioned 'hiatus'), let me just say that driving into my garage while my bike was on top last night was NOT what I needed.

I think my bike is going to be okay. It's stuck in there for now, but I've got help on the way tonight...I'm actually more worried that I broke the garage door--my frame on my bike seems fine; it just has to get unstuck, and then I'll have to figure out if my bike rack and garage door are salvagable.

I have HORRIBLE luck with bikes...

And of course, it's not just luck. I've been out of it lately for so many reasons, and so I'm just not functioning at a very high level. Hence, disasters in abundance.

I just got in my last swim before Wildflower...yep, I'm down for the count from today until May 5...let's just hope I'm good to go by then. I managed a 100 in 1:35.5, so I'm relatively happy with where I am. I just need to keep my swimming up by doing weights regularly, and I think I'll be okay for the race--it might not be the best swim of my life, but I'm perfectly confident that I can get through it.

Looking at the bright side, it'll give me plenty of time to get in lots of hilly bike rides, right? It's just too bad that I really enjoy swimming and I'm going to miss being able to escape to the pool...

I'm teaching spinning now...I have 2 regular classes a week--both on Tuesday's, by chance. I'm doing an 8:30am class at 121 in University Circle, and a noon class at the Euclid YMCA...they've been going well. The guys at the YMCA really like me, and I have a good repore with them. 121 is kind of a tougher crowd, and I was a little intimidated, which is of course the totally wrong way to go about things. I'll do better next week.

So that's about it with me. Send me some positive vibes, guys...I need 'em these days.

Know that my bike and I are both crying right now! How horrible...I am so sorry... I really hope it didn't do any major damage!!! I'll be thinking of the both of you.

(this might be the scariest thing I have ever seen...)

Hang in there Spring is in the air! You have to let the bumps go and the smooth days will come. Also continue to be around people that support what you do.

Ouch...I hope your bike and the garage frame is ok. Will be thinking about them the whole day.

I've heard this story a few times but I don't think I've heard of anyone able to drive the entire car and bike INSIDE the garage. Next time strap a reminder to the garage remote. Good luck with the dismount.

Glad to hear the frame is fine. There can be much worst that can happen with a bike...like the front wheel popped out, face smack down in the pavement and three teeth came out in the process..

oh wait that's me :)

Hang in there ... Sending positive vibes your way!

Su,

Put your garage remote in your seat bag (on the bike) next time, so you have to get out of the car to open the garage...

Just a suggestion. :) That's what I am going to do!

Flatman == Smartman!

Sorry about the door and the bike and the rack.

Your swimming is great! That's a great time.

Stay strong, and positive. Perception plays a huge role in coping.

i agree, flatmans idea is genius.
take it all in stride, you'll come out on top:)

Ouch. That's one way to get a new bike. Or get out of riding.

You could always buy a trunk mounted bike rack.

This reminds me of my first IM travelling to IMUSA. My husband forgot that my new bike was on top of our Xterra and drove it into a cement overhang at our hotel...totally wrecked the front end of the bike and badly tore off the roof rack and damaged the truck..but as soon as we got into LP, Planetbike had her for 24hrs and fixed her up well enough to finish my very first IM. This too shall pass...:-))

***good healty bike vibes*** oh my! This would give my husband a heart attack.

MY.WORST.NIGHTMARE.

i give you full credit that you can blog about it, and show a pic.

i was advised not to use my hitch mount for my P3C because if someone rear ends me it is toast, and the high heat from exhaust on carbon.

so, i've gone to the roof.

keep smilin'. flatman may have saved the day for me. i think it was just a matter of time.

I'm not bummed for Flatman any more. Bummed for you, yes. And confused for me.

benny did that to his bike the very first day he brought it home. i thought he might end it all that night, so i had to hold a candelight vigil for him. turns out, the bike's okay. our car got scratched up, but DON'T WORRY. they bike is fine, people. funny... i didn't have to take a loan out on the bike, but we can't even get a scratch on it. the car that i'm paying for STILL? no. big. deal.

good luck with getting that bike down. yikes.

SNAP girl! I guess it could have been worse. I feel for you. Hope things are better. You have time to get whatever fixed for Wildflower

well, the frame looks good still, that's a plus. Thankfully I don't have a garage for my car otherwise I would have already done this. Here's to parking outside :P At least your last swim is over, that's a plus.

Hey, if you need any parts for that thing and can't get the money up right now let me know, I have quite a few parts laying around since I'm a tad obsessive with bikes, got 5 bikes and counting :P

Sorry hear here about your rough patch. Hopefully the weather is nice at it sunny out. Things always see better when the sun is shinning. Hang in there and things will turn around.

Take care...

Positive vibes to you, Su!!!

Hang tough, girl. You are showing a really great attitude about it, and that attitude will get you through WF, and IMF!

Glad to see you back from hiatus.

Yeah, this is totally something I would do...which is why I don't have a roof rack or a garage... It'll all be ok... Thanks for the warnings though...you're very kind to share with us what NOT to do... And NICE VT sticker on your car!!! Go big green!

Now I am so thankful that my bike rack mounts to my trunk.

Best of luck and good vibes to you. Everything always works out in the end...at least that is what I like to tell myself!

I just feel so bad for that bike right now. Tell me you pulled it out of there and it's okay or something ... even if that isn't actually what happened.
By the way, with the exception of that garage door attached to it, that's a pretty sweet-lookin bike.

Lisa said...

Yeeowwwwch! So sorry, Su. Did everything work out okay? It probably doesn't help to know that you weren't the only person to do this.

Good luck!

Sorry about the bike Su. I hope you both getter over it soon.

I really was not trying to be cleverer by saying getter, but you know what happens when we try to rush things. The evidence is on top of your car. Sorry that just kind of worked itself out. Take care.

I am sorry..I know your bike is probably not the same as my bike with 3 gears and a flat tyre so it is a bad thing, but I could not help laughing! I just pictured it and see the whole thing happening. I am sorry for laughing.

Hope your bike is ok, and your garagedoor

I had visions of myself doing the same dang thing when I had a roof rack. I knew it was inevitable. So, whenever I put the bike on top, I put the garage door opener in the trunk so it was impossible to raise the door and drive in accidentally. I thankfully got a trailer hitch rack before the odds caught up with me.

BTW, Mrs. Greyhound is a professionally trained flutist, too. I was a pro horn player before I got my law gig. We'll be cheering your athletics as well as your music.
