My bathing suit is eating me.

Okay, so I've been avoiding writing about this because I'm trying to deny that it's even happening.

But, my bathing suit is definitely chowing down on my neck...it's so weird because this has never happened before. It started when I got a new suit, but now no matter what suit I wear, I still have this big hicky-looking thing on my neck that gets worse every time I swim. I'm sick of the comments, and I'm afraid of the people who aren't making comments and therefore make assumptions that I don't have a chance to refute. Not that I care if people think I have a huge hicky on my neck, but ya know...it's kind of silly, is all...

Anyone else ever have this problem? It kinda hurts too, by the way.

Nope, but then again, I stopped wearing girls bathing suits a while ago.

Why no pic of the hickey for our Friday viewing pleasure?

Your swim suit length is not long enough (and of course every swim suit maker makes them differently so you have to find the perfect fit by trial and error) or try another style of back to your swimsuit the straps hit differently on your shoulder.

In the meantime, before you are ready to pluck down more cash for a suit, try bodyglide.

Hey!

Don't have this problem with my suit but it sounds like it's not long enough...

I did learn the hard way to put body glide on your NECK during tris....MAJOR hickey alert. Try teaching in a high school with a wetsuit-hickey on your neck. Doesn't work too well. "But I SWEAR it's from my wetsuit!!!!" They didn't buy it.

I'm a guy so I obviously don't wear your type of bathing suit but sounds to me like it's too small.

i do have that problem. but for me, it's cause i bought a size 6 suit in anticipation of the usual stretching. but um ya, it ain't gonna stretch THAT much...

In the book "Swimming to Antarctica" (which I highly recommend) she used to swim with her top down in 40 and 50 degree water because of chafing. I'm not suggesting you do that ;) but she also recommended vaseline or something similar (someone mentioned bodyglide, which might work, but vaseline might be better). I also agree with previous comments about trying a different size or style.

Good luck!
