Last Memphis Tri pictures
Here are the pictures the race photographer's took. I'm not going to order them this time, but I saved them from the website...sketchy, but they were asking for $20 a print... I figure at this point I need my money for other things. Eating and rent, to name a couple necessities....

Memorial Day
Today Jojo, Dan, Phil, Baruch, Kurt, Bryce, and I all went to Mentor-Headlands and spent the afternoon on the beach. Not Florida, but still a lot of fun. We grilled food and played Frisbee, so how could it really be bad? I'm glad my two groups of friends got to know each other a little more...

Blossom Time Trial Race
Today I ran the Blossom Time Trial Race. It was 5.25 miles and I finished in 45:08. It was a really hilly course, but it was beautiful and lots of people were out cheering, so it actually seemed pretty pleasant. I complained enough beforehand for about 8 people though...getting up at 6:30 on a Sunday just seems crazy. The highlight of the experience was definitely the funnel cake and french fries afterwards. There was a whole festival going on, complete with parade and music. Interesting experience: some girl puked on my leg as she crossed the finish line. I must say it's the first time someone has puked ON me... I just washed it off with Kurt's water bottle and pretended it didn't happen. Pretty mature, eh? :)

me eating a funnel cake after the race...i had some vinegar fries too...they didn't mix very well, unfortunately...

Baruch's new haircut
Yesterday we took Baruch to get a haircut. Because it had been so long since we had her groomed, we were forced to basically shave her to get rid of the mats... In case anyone ever doubted that we actually had a poodle, here's proof! She's definitely a bona-fide poodle...

Here are pictures from Kurt...
Baruch visits her grandparents!
While I was in Memphis and Phoenix, Phil took Baruch to Lafayette, IN for the weekend. Here are some pictures of their time there.

Memphis Tri pics
So here are some preliminary pictures from Memphis this weekend... Still to come are pictures from Kurt and of course the official pictures (if I feel like I can afford them). My time was 2:59:29--more than 15 minutes faster than St. Anthony's! Here's the breakdown:
Sex Place: 240
Age group place: 28
Swim place/time: 31 32:34
Transition 1: 2:15
Bike place/time/mph: 34 1:21:14 18.1
Transition 2 (I couldn't find one of my shoes!): 3:25
Run place/time/pace: 20 1:00:03 9:41
Overall time: 2:59:29
The trip was really great. Memphis is a cool city, even though I didn't have much time to explore (I had to actually practice this time around since I had an audition in Phoenix on Monday). It was smaller than St. Anthony's, but that actually made it easier to manage...the start was great because we each went in one at a time instead of in waves. Lots of seaweed in the lake (is it still SEAweed if it's in a lake?) which was caked on me afterwards, but otherwise the swim was fine. I just wish I could get it under 30 minutes...I should be able to because I can easily in the pool, but then again, navigation in the pool isn't an issue. No wetsuits were allowed, which freaked some people out, but I almost feel better without one because I feel so restricted in them. The bike was fast and easy (and probably a bit short). The run was horribly hilly and I thought I was going to puke half the time. I finished in just under 3 hours though, with 31 seconds to spare! Kurt helped pace me for the last 2 miles, which is definitely 'illegal', but since I'm not going to get any awards anyhow, I don't think it's such a big deal.
The pictures are basically in reverse order in terms of a timeline...sorry about that. I keep forgetting that the first ones I post are going to be the last ones viewed. I'll get the hang of it soon enough!
Next triathlon is June 19 in Toledo. We're going to camp out there the night before. Next year around this time, I'm going to the Wildflower Half Ironman in California through Team in Training. I'm going to be a mentor for that one, which means I'll help out with people new to the program. I'm excited for the next step up the triathlon ladder, but I'm glad I have the rest of this year to enjoy the Olympic distance because I definitely don't feel like I've quite conquered it yet. Half Ironman distances: 1.2 mile swim/56 mile bike/ 13.1 mile run. Good thing I have a year, right? Ack!

I'm the one shivering 3 people after the girl with her hands up in the middle of the picture (that's Elizabeth...)
