I put money down on a Trek Equinox 7, WSD. I should be getting it on Wednesday. I couldn't decide between that and the Cervelo model...but the Cervelo is a bit more expensive ($500 more, actually), and I know I don't need the upgrade. I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference, even...and the Trek is what I originally wanted. It's not Trek's fault the Cervelo logo is cooler, right? :) I can still change my mind once the Trek is in...the bike shop doesn't care as long as I buy SOMETHING...
But I won't change my mind. I'm happy with my decision, and I can't wait for it to get here. Please PLEASE let this freakishly awesome weather continue through the week, so I can get at least one ride in before winter hits...

i have a post coming up this week on Trek... being canadian, I'm thinking Cervelo, but the Flatman has been hired as my consultant and has been seducing me with pics of high end Treks... trust me, at a minimum you'll want the aero seatpost off this baby for yours!
stay tuned.
Someone's very jealous, can you guess who?
(as my bike purchase is about 2 months away...I hate waiting).
bolder--i'll be waiting anxiously. the trek also has a slight advantage in that the back wheel is cut into the frame a bit more, so it climbs hills a bit better...and for me, miss i hate hills more than anything, that might be good.
but! the cervelo in my size has 700 wheels (trek 650), which i would prefer, if for no other reason, than because it would be easier to find a spare in a bad situation.
but i guess the main thing is that the cervelo has dura-ace components and the trek has a mix between bontrager race and shimano 105. so, the cervelo is appropriately $500, but the thing is...i don't think i need the dura ace, and probably wouldn't ever even notice the difference.
so, for practical reasons, the trek is totally the winner...but i just plain like the cervelo more. part of me feels like if i'm spending this much money, i should just get the one i REALLY want, but then...i'm trying to be reasonable, you know? and the trek really is a great bike, and probably just right for me. the cervelo just looks cooler, and that's a stupid reason to pay $500 more, right?
anyway. way too long a comment. just inner dialogue, really.
djgoldenboy--wait it out! it'll be worth it, for sure!! when you finally get it, it'll taste all that much sweeter for having waited...
